Space Cowboys

Houston, we have a problem. Four old guys want to go up in space. Hmmm...

I was so utterly surprised by this movie. The casting could not have been more perfect. Tommy Lee Jones, Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland and James Garner. What a group!!

It’s 1958, and our government is taking its first steps towards conquering space for the first time. Frank Corvin (Eastwood), an arrogant air force pilot, has all the confidence in the world that his team will be chosen to be the first. But at the last minute, his boss replaces him with a chimpanzee, and in front of the media no less! It’s not until his services are needed again (in present day) that Frank comes face to face with the man who kept him down so many years ago.

Age - it is something that affects us all. Perhaps that is why we can laugh outright when jokes are made about it. We know that no matter how many Joan Rivers facelifts we get (if you’re into that stuff) that we are not going to trick Father Time. That is why I love this movie - it taps into something to which we can all relate. Rarely have I laughed so hard at a movie. I certainly wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did.
